Temple’s search for a new football coach is moving along quickly. One source says that the interviews could be completed as soon as Wednesday. Another source said it’s feasible for the coach to be picked by the end of the week. Temple is seeking to replace Geoff Collins, who was hired Friday as head coach by Georgia Tech.

With the early signing period Dec. 19-21, Temple understands it can’t drag its feet on making this decision.

According to the second source, there are between eight and 10 coaches who will interview for the job and at this stage, “there is no favorite.”

Former Temple assistant and current Baylor assistant head coach Francis Brown interviewed on Monday, according to several sources.

Ed Foley, who was named interim head coach and will guide Temple in its bowl game, said he was told he would receive an interview.

Foley was out of town Monday, fulfilling media obligations in Shreveport, La., for the Independence Bowl. Temple will play Duke in the game on Dec. 27.

One of the sources indicated that Temple offensive line coach Chris Wiesehan and Michigan defensive coordinator Don Brown could interviews for the job. Wiesehan and Brown were two of the 53 nominees for the Broyles Award, which goes to the top assistant coach in the country.

Footballscoop.com, named two people of interest to Temple -- Texas A&M defensive coordinator Mike Elko (a Penn graduate) and Miami defensive coordinator Manny Diaz. It is not known if either has interviewed for the job.
