Eagles-Jaguars: Game time, how to watch or stream second preseason game

The Eagles will take on the Jacksonville Jaguars Thursday night in Week 2 of the preseason. But before you get too excited, Nick Foles isn’t expected to take the field.

Jaguars head coach Doug Marrone told reporters on Tuesday he’s sticking with his plan to play his starters during the team’s third preseason game, depriving the Eagles of a chance to face off against the Super Bowl MVP.

Returning to call his second Eagles preseason game is former NFL offensive lineman turned broadcaster Ross Tucker. The lifelong Birds fan’s first opportunity to call an Eagles game was nearly railroaded by a sudden case of laryngitis that developed before the team’s first preseason game, a loss to the Tennessee Titans, earlier this month..

"I just woke up and my voice was like that, and I was like, ‘What is going on?’ I was obviously very upset because it was my Eagles debut. I remember driving down thinking, ‘I’m going to get benched for spuds,' " Tucker told the Inquirer, referring to Dave Spadaro.

Fans on Twitter aren’t known for their patience with sports broadcasters, but they stuck with Tucker, whose soldiered through some early struggles to have his voice improve throughout the broadcast, likely thanks to a healthy diet of tea with honey, lozenges, and repeated gargling of warm salt water.

“Someone told me I was trending on Twitter. I was like, ‘Oh, that’s usually not good.' But it was good,” the Wyomissing native said. “I think deep down everybody knows that I’m an Eagles fan, that I was an Eagles fan growing up, I’d like to think on some level people were rooting for me or happy that I’m doing well.”
