PASADENA, Calif. — Modern Family, the five-time Emmy winner for comedy and a longtime linchpin of ABC’s Wednesday night comedy block, will end next season, ABC entertainment president Karey Burke told reporters on Tuesday during the Television Critics Association’s winter meetings.

The series about a multigeneration blended family is in its 10th season, and the announcement of its early renewal for the 2019-20 season followed early renewals for the dramas The Good Doctor and A Million Little Things and for the unscripted series Shark Tank.

Modern Family stars Ed O’Neill, Julie Bowen, Ty Burrell, Sofia Vergara, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Eric Stonestreet, Sarah Hyland, Nolan Gould, Ariel Winter, Rico Rodriguez, Aubrey Anderson-Emmons, and Jeremy Maguire.
