Old City, which has its fill of cheesesteak joints, is getting something a little different.

Burrito Bonito, a colorful, quick-service eatery focused on pressed-to-order burritos, tacos, salads, and Mexican bowls, has an opening set for noon Aug. 19 at 212 Market St. It will be open for lunch, dinner and late-night on weekends.

Restaurateur Marc Harris brought in chefs JT Hearn and Dan Merola of Fleur de Sel Consulting and Roots Café in West Chester to create the menu, whose produce and proteins will be sourced from local organic farms. Vegetarian and gluten-free options will be available, including an Impossible burrito.

Ingredient options include grilled or pulled chicken, portobello barbacoa, seared ground beef, grass-fed steak churrasco, and seared plant-based protein substitute for vegan diners. Prices range from $9 to $12 for burritos, bowls and tacos, and $2 to $5 for sides including chips, guacamole, rice and beans.

There’s also a cheesecake chimichanga — a slice of cheesecake wrapped in a tortilla and deep fried, then tossed with cinnamon sugar and served with vanilla icing for $5.

Harris, most recently affiliated with JJ Bootleggers around the corner, is a three-decade veteran of Philadelphia’s restaurant and hospitality industry (Maui, Polo Bay, Touché).

Hours are 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Sunday to Thursday, 11 a.m. to 3 a.m. Friday and Saturday.
