Coffee shop by day, sushi spot by night.

In the city, Double Knot turns the trick in Rittenhouse. Now in downtown Yardley, the Cain family has extended the dayparting of Pretty Bird Coffee (7 S. Main St.), which rocks the espresso/breakfast sandwich game in a cute house from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily.

Two hours and a few interior feats of switcheroo later, the coffee shop becomes Kawaii Tori Sushi, offering a menu of rolls, salads, and a few cooked items that keeps the crew of three sushi chefs on their toes. It’s open from 5 till 10 p.m. daily.

Do note the setup: Though Kawaii appears to be full service, you must order at the counter and sit at the sushi bar or at a table.

There’s a cool answer to the question, “Why is it so hard to get beer with sushi in Pennsylvania?”

The Cains own the brewpub Vault Brewing Co. across the street, so you can choose from five Vault drafts plus a few wines from Pinnacle Ridge Winery.

Vault’s Zing! pale ale, conditioned with hibiscus flowers and ginger, is tailor-made for sushi.
