Thursday’s South Jersey roundup: Dylan Stezzi’s four RBIs lead Eastern baseball over Washington Township

Dylan Stezzi’s four RBIs came in clutch, as Eastern edged Washington Township for a 5-3 baseball win on Thursday. Stezzi was 2-for-3 with a home run and a double. The Vikings scored two in the seventh to bring their lead to 5-0 before the Minutemen made a last effort push in the bottom frame. Brett Jester was 2-for-3 with a double and a run for Washington Township.

Johnny Schroeder’s three-hit day powered Bordentown to a 10-0 win over Holy Cross. Schroeder was a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate with a double and two home runs, tallying four RBIs for the Scotties.

Jake Durham drove in Colin Taylor for the game-winning run, lifting Triton over Haddon Heights, 2-1. Taylore was 2-for-3 and pitched 5 2/3 innings, striking out nine.

Gloucester held Pitman scoreless in its 10-0 win. The Lions made it a 10-run game by scoring six in the top of the fifth, causing the game to only go five innings.

Pennsauken’s three insurance runs in the sixth inning led it to a 6-2 victory at Burlington Township. Roberto Bonifacio was 2-for-3 with a home run and two RBIs for the Indians.

Cole Vanderslice picked up his first win of the year, helping St. Augustine defeat Vineland, 4-2. Vanderslice threw six innings, giving up three hits and one run. Rob Ready went deep in the second inning, smacking a two-run home run that proved to be the difference maker. Erv Bogan was 2-for-4 with a stolen base for the Fighting Clan.

Jakob Slimbock pitched seven innings of one-run ball to lead Haddonfield to a 6-1 win at Sterling. Chris Brown went 2-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs for the Bulldogs.

Pemberton picked up a win at home against Palmyra, 9-2. The Hornets ran out to a 4-0 lead after the first inning and tacked on two more in the third and fourth.

Alex Gallagher gave up one hit and struck out 11 in Egg Harbor Township’s dominating 18-0 win versus Bridgeton. The Eagles scored 11 in the first inning and another seven throughout the next two. The game was called after five innings.

GCIT scored two runs in the top of the seventh, breaking a 3-3 tie to come out with a 5-3 win. Jordan Gray went 2-for-4 with three RBIs and Danny D’Agonstino was 3-for-4 with two runs and an RBI.

Maple Shade blanked Florence, 4-0, behind Derek Andrada’s complete game. He struck out 12, while Joe Brunner pitched through six innings and gave up two runs for the Flashes.

Joey Hawk’s eight-strikeout complete game led Salem over Wildwood, 10-2. The Rams led 6-0 after three innings.

Overbrook held Woodbury scoreless, 12-0. A.J. Himes threw a no-hitter in the five innings of play, striking out 11. Doug Tompkins and Dylan Scully combined for five RBIs.

Harry Padden went 3-for-4 with a triple and two runs in Schalick’s 7-2 win against Pennsville. Ray Knappenberger was 2-for-3 with a double and a pair of runs for the Eagles.

Softball

Haylei Archer struck out 13 and gave up just one hit in Northern Burlington’s 2-0 win against Burlington Township. The Greyhounds scored both of the game’s only runs on errors in the first inning.

Maple Shade handled Florence, 14-2. The Wildcats totaled 13 hits, as Taylor Martin, Amber Hickey, Morgan Hart and Melissa Donaldson each had two. Miranda Horwath picked up the win for Maple Shade and hit a home run, driving in two runs on the day.

Rancocas Valley edged out Bordentown, 7-6. Selena Aponte won on the mound and went a perfect 4-for-4 at the plate. The Red Devils led 6-5 after six innings before both teams traded a run each in the seventh.

Brooke Hampton struck out 14 on the way to a Westampton Tech 10-0 shutout of Pemberton. Hampton allowed just one hit in five innings of work. Sanna Meredith and Amber Perry each went 2-for-3 for the Panthers. Angelita Martinez had a three-run shot for Westampton Tech.

Lenape broke a 2-2 tie in the fourth inning, bringing two across the plate and driving in another three in the fifth, leading to a 7-3 win over Timber Creek. Avery Bartolomeo was 3-for-3 with a run and two RBIs. Emma Brennan went 2-for-3 as well with two RBIs.

Overbrook scored four runs in the top of the seventh to complete a 7-6 comeback win against Woodbury. Paige Roberts had a home run and Taylor gresh went 2-for-3 for the Rams. Rachel White pitched a complete game and struck out 11 for the Thundering Herd.

Britney Welsh and Bayani Orr combined for six RBIs in Williamstown’s 17-0 rout of Pennsauken. The Braves scored all 17 runs in the first and second innings, tallying 13 hits total.

Zoe Frisko drove in four runs on 3-for-5 hitting during Vineland’s 12-3 win against Triton. Nicole Ortega pitched a complete game, allowing just four hits and striking out 11.

Katie Dainton blasted two grand slams while Makayla Venezaile and Leilani Colaneri both hit solo shots to lead St. Joseph (Hamm.) over Cape May Tech, 15-1, in five innings. Lily Steinman notched the Hawks’ only hit with a triple in the fourth.

Buena downed Our Lady of Mercy, 6-2, as Bridgette Gilliano, Olivia Dortu and Gabby D’Ottavio all notched three hits.

Sterling defeated Haddonfield, 14-1, in five innings. The Silver Knights were walked 11 times.

Siyanna Begey went yard and had three RBIs for Kingsway, who beat Hammonton, 6-2. Marina Costello pitched six innings, allowing no earned runs.

Boys’ Lacrosse

Sean Kennedy, Mason Bregman and Will Mercado combined for five goals and 10 assists during Lenape’s 15-3 romp of Eastern. Hunter Lippincott had a game-high four goals.

Tom Coyle’s hat trick was the difference maker in Cherry Hill West’s 8-6 win against Timber Creek. Coyle also had two assists, while Aaron Bernard had 12 saves for the Lions, six of which came in the fourth quarter.

Girls’ Lacrosse

Cherry Hill East dominated Haddon heights, 14-3. Julia Cutler scored a game-high four goals. Paige Miller, Maddie Graham, Juliane Calalo and Lauren Ballay all had two goals apiece.
