Wednesday’s South Jersey roundup: Moorestown Friends golf team wins first Friends Schools League title in program history

The Moorestown Friends golf team won the Friends Schools League team championship for the first time in program history at the Rancocas Golf Club on Wednesday. The Foxes’ four-man squad finished with a score of 354. Friends’ Central placed second with a 365 and Shipley had a 371 and finished third.

Alec Ryden of Moorestown Friends placed second in the individual championship with a 78. Friends’ Central’s John Bradbeer came in first and Maya Torpey of Westtown finished in third.

Baseball

Will Long pitched a complete game, had nine strikeouts and allowed only two hits to help Wildwood down Salem, 3-1. Corlen Vallese hit a double and had one RBI and Ethan Burke added one RBI.

Julian DelValle hit a double and Andrew Slade recorded the win in Buena’s 1-0 victory over Caravel.

Sam Daggers pitched a shutout with 11 strikeouts as Absegami defeated Lower Cape May, 2-0. He also walked twice, stole two bases and scored one run. Bill Wheatley had two RBIs.

Sam Long had three hits and three RBIs to lead Schalick past Pennsville, 5-3. Austin Ludwick had one hit and two RBIs and Harry Padden added one RBI.

Bridgeton topped Winslow Township, 7-1, behind RBIs from Justin Garner and Trevion Scarbrough.

Softball

Diana Parker went 4-for-5 with a home run and four RBIs to lead Delsea past Triton, 7-0. She also recorded the win on the mound with 15 strikeouts. Brooke Clark went 3-for-5 with a homer and two RBIs. Kaylin Power hit a double.

Kanai Dismus hit a solo walk off homer in the bottom of the eighth as Highland edged Deptford, 3-2. Sydney Arrigale went 2-for-3 with a double, home run and one RBI. Kamryn Kennedy hit a double and Nerina Tramp notched the win with six strikeouts.

Mary Jane Calascione had a homer and three RBIs in Hammonton’s 6-5 victory over Kingsway. Remy Smith had one hit and two RBIs. Makenzie Edwards hit two singles and had one RBI.

Boys’ Lacrosse

Bryce Reece’s four goals led Lenape past Eastern, 17-3. Mason Bregman tallied a hat trick, and Luke Cole, Hunter Lippincott and Matt Soutar added two goals apiece.

Shawnee downed Washington Township, 16-0, thanks to Kyle Korchak’s five goals. Gavyn Wilson scored four goals and Max Rebstock notched a hat trick. David Giordano and Chris Lyons added two goals apiece.

Girls’ Lacrosse

Devon Kelty scored five goals as Woodstown edged Bishop Eustace, 10-9. Charlie Baldwin and Catherine DiPatri each scored two goals.

Jennie Boyle and Ally Tobler scored four goals apiece in Washington Township’s 12-9 victory over Clearview. Erin Renshaw tallied two goals.

Mary Meduri’s five goals led Our Lady of Mercy past Cedar Creek, 13-3. Adrianna Dodge and Anissa Serafine each recorded hat tricks.

Camden Catholic romped Gloucester Catholic, 17-1, thanks to Brynn Eilbacher’s hat trick. Lynn Hardy, Alyssa Kolasa, Devin Rybacki and Kate Walsh added two goals apiece.

Kathleen Ortiz’s four goals helped Haddon Heights beat Burlington City, 15-6. Saylor Allen had a trick, and Maggie Campbell, Evie Davis and Caitlin Nicholls each scored two goals.

Meghan Roberts and Bella Runyan scored five goals apiece as Moorestown Friends defeated Northern Burlington, 16-8.

Boys’ Tennis

Christian Coombs, William Chew and Kasey Wallace each won their singles matches in straight sets to help Audubon beat Penns Grove, 5-0, in the first round of the South Group 1 playoffs. The Green Wave will face Woodstown in the second round next week.

In other South Group 1 action, Gateway defeated Buena, 5-0. Dylan Kolecki, Bryan Norris, Ty Costantino and Sean Hauser won the doubles points.

Aditya Deshmukh beat Dante Pizzi, 6-0, 6-0, in his singles match as Shawnee topped Toms River South, 5-0, in the first round of the South Group 3 playoffs. The Renegades will play Hammonton in the quarterfinals next week.

Moorestown swept Bridgeton, 5-0, in other South Group 3 play. Peter Leese, Sahill Tilak and Sean Kirk won their singles matches in straight sets.
