Thursday’s Southeastern Pa. roundup: String Theory softball tops Marianna Bracetti in Public League playoffs

Moira Gilbert hit a homer as String Theory topped Marianna Bracetti, 20-0, in the first round of the Public League playoffs on Thursday. Katie McMullen had two doubles and EvanRose Smith hit a triple. String Theory will play Lincoln in the second round on Friday.
In other Public League playoff action, Prep Charter defeated Washington, 19-3. Alyssa Coates recorded the win on the mound. The Huskies will face Phila. Academy Charter in the next round on Friday.

Julie Ermi hit a home run in Harriton’s 14-4 victory over Penncrest. Ava Paternoser had three hits and three RBIs.

Ashley Haggerty went 2-for-4 with a double and one RBI to lead Pope John Paul II past Pottsgrove, 6-5. Grace Harvey had a double and one RBI. Alex DiCampello and Anna Vitelli added one RBI apiece.

Genevieve Ebaugh’s eight strikeouts helped Kennett romp Phoenixville, 7-0. She also had one hit and one RBI.

Joe Alper hit two doubles and Mike McQuilken had one as Prep Charter defeated Rush, 18-3, in the first round of the Public League playoffs.
In other Public League playoff action, David Anaya went 2-for-2 with a triple and five RBIs to lift Boys’ Latin past Hill-Freedman, 21-6.

Boys’ Lacrosse
Ryan Carroll had a hat trick as Central Bucks East beat Truman, 11-0. Ryan Eife and Ryan Stout added two goals apiece.
Girls’ Lacrosse
Alexandra Long and Emily Matson each scored five goals as George Schools defeated Abington Friends, 18-12, in the Quaker Cup Semifinals. Sara Matson recorded a hat trick.
The Cougars will play Friends’ Central in the Quaker Cup final on Saturday. The Phoenix beat Westtown, 17-6, to advance to the championship.
