A former New Jersey state worker was sentenced Wednesday to four years in prison for possession of child pornography, prosecutors said.

Kevin Smith, 66, of Westmont, worked as an executive assistant in the Department of Labor and Workforce Development when he was caught using a state computer to download images of child pornography, prosecutors said.

Smith pleaded guilty last month to third-degree possession of child pornography. More than 100 images were found stored on optical disks and a thumb drive found in his cubicle at work. Smith was suspended from his job and subsequently retired, prosecutors said.
