The body of a 15-year-old boy was found Wednesday morning on a New Jersey Shore beach, about a quarter-mile from where he was swept away by a rip current over the Labor Day weekend, Spring Lake police said.

Josiah Jeremiah Robinson of Ewing and his 13-year-old sister got caught in a rip current Sunday afternoon while swimming at the Brighton Avenue Beach in Spring Lake, police said. A bystander rescued the girl but the boy was swept out to sea.

Lifeguards, state and local police, and the Coast Guard searched for Robinson for hours but could not find him.

Police said a passerby spotted the body Wednesday morning about a quarter-mile from where Robinson disappeared and called 911.
