MERCERSBURG, Pa. (AP) — A federal grand jury says eight men were involved in killing three people at a central Pennsylvania farm out of fear that one of the victims had become a police informant.

An indictment was announced this weekend by Pennsylvania State Police for the 2016 slaying of Wendy Chaney, Brandon Cole and Phillip Jackson.

Eight of the 11 total defendants are accused in the deaths of the three.

They were found shot, tied up and set on fire in a barn on Jackson's farm near Mercersburg.

Five are charged with plotting to kill one of the other defendants, who they believed was cooperating with investigators looking into the triple murder.

Authorities say all 11 defendants are behind bars. Messages left for two defense lawyers listed on the docket weren’t immediately returned.
