Philadelphia Eagles, 31, New York Jets 6 - as it happened

Eagles improve to 3-2

The Eagles were a two-touchdown favorite against the New York Jets and this game proved why. While the Eagles won 31-6, they weren’t particularly sharp on offense, but did more than enough to beat the 0-4 Jets. The Eagles are now 3-2 and now hit the road for thee games beginning Sunday in Minnesota.

Jets quarterback Luke Falk was pummeled all game. He was sacked 10 times for 59 yards.

McCown in for Eagles

Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz left the game for good when Josh McCown took over with 5:17 left in the fourth quarter.

Wentz completed 17 of 29 for 189 yards, one touchdown and no interceptions. He had an 89.6 passer rating.

Scandrick scores a defensive touchdown

Orlando Scandrick’s strip sack and 44-yard return for a touchdown increased the Eagles lead to 31-6 with 7:39 left.

Jets quarterback Luke Falk has taken a beating. He has been sacked six times for 44 yards.

Smith with the score

Receiver Vyncent Smith went 19 yards for a touchdown on a reverse one play after the Jets recovered a fumble by Corey Clement on a punt to cut the Eagles lead to 24-6 with 14:32 left.

The Jets failed on the two-point conversion.

Eagles increase lead

Jake Elliott’s 28-yard field goal with 1:26 left in the third quarter improved the Eagles lead to 24-0. That completed a 12-play, 77-yard drive. Jordan Howard has led the Eagles ground game with 10 carries for 56 yards and one TD.

Graham records third sack

Eagles defensive end Brandon Graham recorded his third sack of the game on the Jets first second half series. The sack came with 8:44 left in the third quarter.

Eagles stopped on first third quarter possession

On a fourth-and-one from the Jets 40, the Eagles Carson Wentz was stopped short of the first down on a sneak with 11:52 left in the third quarter.

A key play in the drive came when Wentz eluded a potential sack by Quinnen Williams to hit Ertz with a 21-yard pass to the Jets 49-yard line.

Graham with big first half

Eagles defensive end Brandon Graham didn’t have a sack in the first four games. He collected two against Jets quarterback Luke Falk in the first half. Graham has four tackles and three quarterback hurries in the first half.

Eagles take 21-0 lead

Carson Went hit Zach Ertz for an 11-yard touchdown pass with 34 seconds left in the first half to extend the Eagles lead to 21-0. The play was reviewed to see if Ertz’s knee hit the ground right before the end zone. The ruling on the field stood.

The scoring drive was 7 plays, one penalty and 42 yards in 1:28.

The Eagles score was set up by Rodney McLeod’s 23-yard to the Jets 42-yard line.

Eagles safety Rodney McLeod’s 23-yard interception gave them the ball on the Jets 42-yard line with 2:02 left in the first half.

Eagles defense has been strong

With under five minutes left in the first half, the Jets had just 49 total yards. The Eagles offense has been sloppy since scoring on the first drive and have not gotten into any rhythm.

Eagles looking for better consistency

Since scoring on their first drive, the Eagles have sputtered offensively. With 7:32 left in the first half they had just 99 total yards. Wentz just missed a wide-open Nelson Agholor deep.

The Eagles challenged the ruling for pass interference, but lost the challenge.

With a fourth-and-17 from their own 2-yard line, the Jets punter Lachian Edwards got a good bounce for a 56-yard punt that wasn’t returned. The Eagles take over on their own 42 with 9:09 left in the first half.

Carson Went has completed 5 of 10 for 73 yards. He has also has a 5-yard run. Currently it is Jets ball with under 10:30 left in the half.

The Jets fair caught an Eagles punt at their own 9-yard-line. The Eagles continue to lead 14-0 with 10:58 left in the first half.

Former Penn State kicker Sam Ficken was way short on a 55-yard field goal attempt with 12:50 left in the first half.

Eagles fail on fourth down

On a fourth-and-5 from the New York Jets 36-yard-line Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz threw an incomplete pass giving the Jets the ball with 32 seconds left in the first quarter.

Eagles take 14-0 lead

On a fourth and one from the Eagles 47, Eagles linebacker Nathan Gerry returned an interception 51 yards for a TD with 5:04 left in the first quarter.

Brandon Graham put the pressure on Jets quarterback Luke Falk and he didn’t get much on the throw. It was the Eagles fifth interception of the season and second by Gerry.

Eagles take early lead

After holding the Jets to a three-and-out, that ended with Brandon Graham’s nine-yard sack, the Eagles scored on their first possession. Jordan Howard scored from 1-yard out.

The drive consisted of 9 plays, two penalties, 53 yards and took 5:11. Howard had three carries for 21 yards on the drive.

The score came with 7:44 left in the first quarter.
