Yesterday Bernie Sanders reminded us that there was a Democratic primary going on when he announced that he is ending his campaign to be the Democratic nominee for President of the United States. In a simple statement he thanked his many supporters and reminded us of all the progressive issues he’s brought to the mainstream. They are his legacy.

By announcing that he will leave his name on upcoming primary ballots so he can keep pressure on the party to adopt his platforms, Bernie hasn’t exactly “cleared the way” for Joe Biden. Assuming the Democrats don’t adopt all Bernie’s proscriptions and begin to tact in a more moderate direction, Sanders will have to press his supporters in the fall to get out and vote for Biden if there is any hope of beating Donald Trump in November. That, too, would be part of his legacy.
