Mayor Nutter recently signed into law a bill that provides a break for some dog owners.
"All licensing fees for guide dogs for the blind, or guide dogs for any other handicapped person or for government-owned dogs used for law enforcement shall be waived," the law reads.
Also, anyone over 65 gets the license for half price.
The standard annual fees are $40 for intact dogs, $16 for neutered dogs.
It is law that all dogs must be licensed and the city is slowly gearing up to enforce the law.
