Vice President Biden is scheduled to visit Philadelphia Monday to hold a roundtable on gun violence with law enforcement officials, the White House says.
The visit is part of the administration’s continuing press for some gun-control measures in the wake of the Newtown, Conn. School shooting. Biden has emerged as the leading public advocate of proposed gun-safety measures, including universal background checks for purchasers of firearms.
Biden is scheduled to be joined by Deputy U.S. Attorney General James Cole and several Democratic members of the Pennsylvania congressional delegation: Sen. Bob Casey; and Reps. Bob Brady, Chaka Fattah and Allyson Schwartz.
