Fresh off the festival circuit, BaddDDD Sonia Sanchez, a documentary about the 81-year-old poet, academic and activist who was a longtime professor at Temple as well as Philadelphia's first poet laureate, will make its national television premiere Tuesday (8 p.m., WHYY Info 258) as a presentation of the series America ReFramed.

Called a "lion in literature's forest" by poet Maya Angelou,  Sanchez is the author of 16 books, poetry and prose, as well as several plays and was a major figure in the Black Arts Movement of the 1960s.

Philly's Questlove is among those appearing in the film, which features readings and performances of Sanchez' work.

Starting Wednesday, BaddDDD Sonia Sanchez will also be available for streaming here.
