Phil Tomassini on Monday told senior staff at PennDot that he is retiring March 30 as the agency's chief information officer overseeing upgrades to the state's driver records and other highway information technology systems and contracting.
The departure involving one of the state's top procurement officials comes nearly seven years after Tomassini was appointed by then-Gov. Tom Corbett, and less than a year after Gov. Wolf added the state Department of Community and Economic Development and the state emergency management agency to Tomassini's responsibilities.
Wolf's move was part of a sweeping consolidation and reform of state IT procurement.
