Philadelphia designers, Bela Shehu and Melissa D'Agostino, held the SURFACE Viaducts of Fashion Fundraiser at CITY SPACE on Saturday, April 5, 2013. The event was in support of the Reading Viaduct project that aimed to open a discussion with the fashion world on the topic of public green spaces.
The philosophy behind the event was expressed through an exhibition, created by Julia Blaukopf, based on her recent photographs of the Reading Viaduct–an old elevated train track built in the 1890's that transects three miles of diverse and rapidly redeveloping neighborhoods just north of the traditional boundary of Center City. Julia Blaukopf's work focuses on visual storytelling through photographs, mixed media works, large-scale fabric scrims, and many other mediums.
