Bela Shehu and Melissa D'Agostino, two Philadelphia designers held the SURFACE Viaducts of Fashion Fundraiser at CITY SPACE, Saturday, April 5, 2013 in support of the Reading Viaduct project. The event aimed to unite the fashion world with the idea of public open green space.
The philosophy behind the event was told through an exhibition by Julia Blaukopf based on her recent photographs of the Reading Viaduct, which is an old elevated train track built in the 1890's that transects three miles of diverse and rapidly redeveloping neighborhoods just north of the traditional boundary of Center City. Julia Blaukopf's work focuses on visual storytelling through photographs, mixed media works, large-scale fabric scrims, and many other mediums.
