This Sunday, May 17th, Living Beyond Breast Cancer will be hosting its 14th Annual Yoga on the Steps. This year's theme is "Your Love Story," focusing on not romantic love, but on self-acceptance, self-care and self-respect. Come out and empower your own story as well as show some love and support for others suffering from breast cancer and their families.
An estimated 1,700 to 2,000 breast cancer survivors and supporters are expected to converge on the steps of the Philadelphia Museum of Art starting at 7:30 a.m., rain or shine. Registration and the start of the Healthy Living Expo will be held from 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Then the hour-long yoga class, accompanied by Kirtan chanting and music, will be at 9:30 a.m. The Healthy Living Expo , where you can check out new health and wellness products and services, will then recommence from 10:45 a.m. to 12: 30 p.m.
According to Denise Portner, senior vice president of SteegeThomson Communications, "Living Beyond Breast Cancer (LBBC) has chosen yoga as its centerpiece fundraising event based on the positive effects the practice has shown to help improve quality of life for cancer patients. "
LBBC has also put together a special Guide to Understanding that specifically addresses how to incorportate yoga into an overall wellness plan.
Living Beyond Breast Cancer, whose mission is to connect people with trusted breast cancer information and a community of support, hopes to raise funds for their national education and support services where are provided to those diagnosed with breast cancer, their families and their caregivers for little or not cost.
