A look inside Wiz Kid in Rittenhouse

Wiz Kid — the casual complement to Rich Landau and Kate Jacoby's vegan street-fooder, V Street — is just about ready to open at 124 S. 19th St., north of Rittenhouse Square.

It features a cool setup: A passageway was cut between the space and V Street. It seats 12 on banquettes, and seven on stools at a rail. The wild mural painted on the white brick by artist Ntel depicts "Kate's brain," as she jokes.

It's an assortment of cartoon characters and graffiti art.

The menu is larger than at the Wiz Kid at the Art Museum-area Whole Foods store, and there's a secret weapon usually not found at fast-casual eateries: booze.

Wiz Kid has six taps: two wines, two Neshaminy Creek Brewing Co. beers, and watermelon lemonade and julep tea. For five bucks more, you can add gin or whiskey to the lemonade or tea.

The opening menu includes the WK Philly (the signature vegan "cheesesteak," plus a South Philly roast rabe sandwich, a Korean fried tempeh sandwich, and two salads (a Cobb and a Middle Eastern-style chopped salad).
