Looks like Philly is about to get a double dose of Peruvian cuisine and cocktails made with the Peruvian brandy called pisco.

While Northeast Philadelphia's El Balconito preps for a late-year opening in Old City, the Piazza at Schmidt's Commons in Northern Liberties just inked a Peruvian tenant for Liberties Walk.

Chalaco's Ceviche & Pisco Bar will take the former Bar Ferdinand space (1030 N. Second St.) for a 90-seater plus outside dining in early 2018.

Menu, overseen by chef Jose Luis Herrea, will include Peruvian ceviches and other favorites, such as the stir-fry dish lomo saltado and Peruvian char-broiled chicken. It will serve lunch, dinner, happy hour, and a late-night happy hour.

Two of the owners, married couple Francisco Acevedo and Carmen Silva, are part-owners of five restaurants in Maryland under the brand of Lima's Chicken, which serve Peruvian-style char-broiled chicken. The third owner, Giovanni Delfino, has more than 10 years in the restaurant industry.

Chalaco's is the first of four new food-and-drink tenants that will be announced in late summer and early fall.
