Philadelphia will be a stop on the James Beard Foundation's Taste America national culinary tour, whose major event will be A Night of Culinary Stars, Oct. 13 at the Museum of the American Revolution. It's a fund-raiser for the foundation.

Local chefs and restaurateurs will contribute to a cocktail party, including Scott Anderson (of elements in Princeton and Mistral in King of Prussia), Nicholas Elmi (Laurel and ITV), Rich Landau (Vedge, V Street, and Wiz Kid), Camille Cogswell (Zahav), and Nate Horwitz (Morimoto). Guillermo Pernot of Cuba Libre will host a VIP reception.

The seated dinner will be prepared by Marc Murphy (Benchmarc Restaurants by Marc Murphy, Landmarc & Ditch Plains), Greg Vernick (Vernick Food & Drink), pastry chef Pat O'Malley (The Hungry Pigeon), and host chef Jean-Marie Lacroix (Brûlée Catering). Stephen Starr, Audrey Claire Taichman, and chef/culinary consultant Hope Cohen are chairing the dinner. Afterparty will be at Aqimero, hosted by Richard Sandoval.

This is the fifth anniversary of Taste America national culinary tour, whose stops also include Austin, Boston, Chicago, Kansas City, Los Angeles, New Orleans, Phoenix, San Francisco, and Seattle. Tickets ($300 and $450 a head) are due to go on sale July 12 at this link.

Free demos by Anderson and Murphy will be held on Oct. 14 at the Sur La Table store at King of Prussia Mall. Sign-up is here.
