Winkel, a breakfast-lunch spot from Joncarl Lachman, coming to Washington Square West

Chef Joncarl Lachman will take over part of the Washington Square West landmark More Than Just Ice Cream after it closes next week.

Lachman, who coowns the hit Euro BYOB Noord with Bob Moysan, will call it Winkel, focusing on Euro-style breakfast and lunches, with a potential of dinner service. Opening at 1119 Locust St. is being targeted for November.

To focus on Winkel, he has ceded his interest in the Pennsport bruncherie The Dutch to business partner Lee Styer of Fond in an amicable parting. The Dutch continues with Kevin Waters in the kitchen and Becca Prawlucki out front.

Lachman enjoys letting his Dutch roots show. "I've always wanted to do a place called Winkel [which means "store"], but people made fun of the name. It was almost Noord's name," he told me. That was in 2012, before Lachman's homecoming from successful restaurant gigs in Chicago.

"Now," he said. "I can get away with it."

Menu will not be the same as The Dutch's.

Among options will be the shakshuka that was popular at Neuf, his now-closed North African-themer in the Italian Market, as well as Dutch pancakes — not Dutch babies but sweet and savory Amsterdam-style pancakes (blackberry and bacon, perhaps), and "interesting" omelet fillings such as fried oysters.

Besides Noord, Lachman consults at Restaurant M at the Morris House.

Winkel will take only the kitchen side of More Than Just Ice Cream, whose finale will be Sept. 27.
