The Undertaker vs. Edge (World Heavyweight Championship) (16-0)

WrestleMania XXIV | Orlando Citrus Bowl — Orlando, Fla. | March 30, 2008

Attendance: 72,635

Match length: 24:03

Much had been made about The Undertaker's undefeated streak at WrestleMania, but what was forgotten was that he wasn't the only that had done nothing but win on grandest stage of them all.

The brash World Heavyweight Champion Edge had compiled a 5-0 record at WrestleMania, unless you count him not finishing the Money in the Bank match at WrestleMania 23 a loss, which would have made him 5-1.

Technicalities aside, Edge had never been pinned at WrestleMania, which added extra intrigue to their main-event match at WrestleMania XXIV. Not to mention, the World Heavyweight Championship was on the line.

After going 10 years without winning a championship at WrestleMania, The Undertaker was looking to do it for the second year in a row in Orlando. It also marked only the second time The Undertaker took part in the event's final match.

Like The Undertaker did for Batista the year before, he helped cement Edge as top-level act with a thrilling and memorable match that was worthy of its billing.

The match was mostly centered on Edge constantly countering all of The Undertaker's signature offense, which not only added drama to the proceedings, but also put Edge in a better light as well.

But like many others before him, Edge eventually succumbed to The Undertaker and the streak, but in a very unique fashion. The Undertaker had implemented the Gogoplata submission hold into his offense not long before and used it to defeat Edge and win the World Heavyweight Championship. It was the first time The Undertaker had used a submission to win a match at WrestleMania.

It was fitting, as Edge countered everything else The Undertaker had to offer. The Undertaker was then forced dig down deep into his repertoire in order to come out on top.

For the second year in a row, The Undertaker knocked it out of the park at WrestleMania. Fortunately, the best was yet to come.
