Mutual-fund giant Vanguard, Valley Forge, said John James will join the $3.8 trillion firm's senior leadership team as a managing director and head of human resources, responsible for overseeing employment, employee relations, corporate training, compensation, and benefits. James, who currently leads Vanguard's European business, will replace Kathleen Gubanich, who will retire at year end after a 30-year career with Vanguard.

James, who currently leads Vanguard's European business, will replace Kathleen Gubanich, who will retire at year end after a 30-year career with Vanguard.

Lois Gabin-Legato has joined the Philadelphia Foundation as vice president of institutional advancement. The foundation is the region's oldest and largest community foundation and controls the Institute for Journalism in New Media, the nonprofit owner of the Inquirer, the Daily News, and Philly.com. Gabin-Legato had been associate vice president at the office of institutional advancement of Drexel University.

Ruth Lefton has been named chief operating officer at Einstein Medical Center Philadelphia, Einstein Medical Center Elkins Park, MossRehab, and Willowcrest. She had been chief operating officer of MossRehab, Einstein Medical Center Elkins Park, and Willowcrest.

Razorfish Health, an integrated health and wellness advertising agency in Philadelphia, has promoted Keri Hettel to vice president, group director of analytics, from vice president, director of analytics.

Huntsworth Health, a Yardley family of health-care marketing and communications agencies, has named Frank Galella chief financial officer. Galella had been CFO for ICC Lowe and CFO of Hill & Knowlton Public Relations.

Philadelphia-based FS Investments, an alternative asset manager, has hired former Goldman Sachs executive Steve DeAngelis as executive vice president and head of distribution. DeAngelis will serve on the firm's executive committee and as president of FS Investment Solutions LLC, FS Investments' wholly owned broker-dealer subsidiary. He had been managing director, head of U.S. Advisor Solutions Group, at Goldman Sachs Asset Management.

Medsurant Holdings LLC, a West Conshohocken provider of outsourced intraoperative neurophysiologic monitoring services to hospitals and surgeons, has hired Craig Caviness as president of the Philadelphia region as the company expands its presence in the market. Caviness had been clinical supervisor and regional manager of Physiologic Assessment Services, which Medsurant acquired in 2012.

CMS Wealth Management, an independent registered advisory firm based in Wayne, has hired Eric L. Settle as managing director, wealth management. He had been vice president at Bernstein Private Wealth Management serving families, individuals and small-business owners.

Bentley Systems, an Exton provider of software, has hired Claire Rutkowski as chief information officer. She also will join the company's executive cabinet. She had been chief information officer for MWH Global.

Breanna Broderick has been hired as retail guru at MSC Retail, Philadelphia. She had been a realtor at Allan Domb Real Estate.

Philadelphia brand-communications firm Brownstein Group has hired Terry Dukes as director of client services. Dukes spent the last eight years as global brand director at Havas Worldwide in New York City.

Joseph F. Kampherstein III has been hired as an associate in the litigation department of Capehart Scatchard, Mount Laurel. Kampherstein had been an associate at Weber Gallagher Simpson Fires & Newby LLP in Mount Laurel.

Berwyn-based marketing and advertising agency Quattro has announced the following promotions: Eric Hellberg to vice president production, from production director; Jason Koscho to vice president, creative, from creative director of digital; John Garland to senior digital marketing manager, from digital marketing manager; Ashley Wetherhold to director, content and engagement strategy, from senior digital marketing manager; Mike Magargal to user experience lead, from Interaction Designer; Eric Zerbe to creative director, from senior copywriter; and Amy McDonald to senior account director, from account director.

Mufson Howe Hunter, a Philadelphia investment-banking firm, has hired Brandon Eck as managing director and head of technology services coverage. Eck had been a managing director at Janney Montgomery Scott LLC.

W.S. Cumby, Builders & Construction Managers, Springfield, Delaware County, has named William Cumby III vice president. After fifteen years in the commercial real estate and finance, he joins his father, William Cumby Jr., and brother Adam. He spent the last eight years as a portfolio manager for Pacific Investment Management Co.

Mercadien Group, Princeton, has promoted Samuel J. Kenworthy from director to managing director, and to principal of Mercadien PC, CPAs. Eric M. Whelan and Emily A. Hoffman have been promoted to director from manager positions. Arpita Patel has been promoted to manager from a supervisor position.

BankMobile, a division of Customers Bank in New York, has named Warren Taylor president of customer engagement, chief of staff and head of banking, and Casey McGuane chief operating officer and head of student banking. Warren will work directly with Jay Sidhu, chairman and CEO of BankMobile and Customers Bank. He had been of president of the BankMobile division, director of consumer lending, and executive vice president of community banking at Customers Bank. McGuane had been chief operating officer of Higher One Inc.

Brendon Shank has been hired as vice president, account director, at Philadelphia-based marketing communications agency Domus Inc. He worked in house, creating and leading the communications department at the Philadelphia-based Society of Hospital Medicine.

Intergrated communications agency Slice Communications, Philadelphia, has hired Jenn McClendon as a business development associate. McClendon previously worked at Merck as a supplier diversity professional.

West Pharmaceutical Services Inc., Exton, has hired David A. Montecalvo as senior vice president, global operations and supply chain. He had been vice president, contract manufacturing operations, for the company's restorative therapies group at Medtronic Plc.

Radian Group Inc., Philadelphia, has hired Peter Danna as senior vice president, structured products. He had been with Morningstar Credit Ratings, where he was in charge of business development for their asset-backed bond rating unit.
