Drexel files counterclaims against Sodexo-Magic Johnson firm

Drexel University on Friday filed counterclaims against a food-service company majority-owned by basketball legend Earvin "Magic" Johnson  in a dispute over a 2015 contract that ended in acrimony last fall.

SodexoMAGIC LLC, a joint venture of Sodexo Inc. and Magic Johnson Enterprises said in a Sept. 27 lawsuit "Drexel had purposefully hidden its plan to decrease enrollment during contract negotiations."

Drexel, which failed to have the federal lawsuit dismissed, made counterclaims that SodexMAGIC failed to make $230,000 in community payments, left key management positions vacant for too long, and did not arrange for enough visits by Magic Johnson.
