Brandywine Realty Trust plans to begin work next week on the Drexel Square public plaza, the first project in its massive Schuylkill Yards development project near 30th Street Station.

Work on the 1.3-acre landscaped park at 30th and Market Streets, between the train station and the former Bulletin newspaper building, will start with a Nov. 8 ceremony, according to an invitation emailed Wednesday on Brandywine's behalf.

Brandywine has said it also plans to redevelop the former Bulletin building, now known as One Drexel Plaza, during an early phase of the $3.5 billion Schuylkill Yards plan, which is slated to eventually involve 8 million square feet of office space over 14 acres.

The site is one of three in central Philadelphia mentioned as a potential location for Amazon.com Inc.'s planned second headquarters in the city's proposal to the e-commerce giant.
