Rebecca and Michael Lerario always knew they wanted to live in the Passyunk neighborhood.

"We loved the area, the restaurants and neighborhood feel," Rebecca said.

When the couple was house-hunting after having their daughter in 2013, they found a three-bedroom property on Morris Street.

"The home was for rent, and when we saw the location, we asked the owners if they would sell it to us, and they did," Lerario said.

The home required some renovation, including new electrical wiring, new recessed lighting and light fixtures, new toilets in the bathroom and powder room, and new flooring and paint in the kitchen. Lerario said they tried to retain as much of the property's charm as possible.

The home "still has its original vestibule and marble sills," she said.

The 1,218-square-foot home also features a dry but unfinished basement and hardwood flooring throughout.

While they have enjoyed the upgrades made to the interior of the home, Lerario said, their favorite part of the home is the patio out back.

"It's large for a South Philly home and great for barbecuing with friends and family and playing with our kids," she said.

The location has continued to be a highlight as well.

"We have been to every restaurant — I mean every one," Lerario said. "We love visiting the parks and going for walks down the Avenue."

She said that having a second child has forced the family to seek a four-bedroom home and a backyard with grass.

"It was a very tough decision given our ties to and relationships within the neighborhood," Lerario said. "We will deeply miss 1116 Morris, and the memories we created there."

The home is listed by Kevin Barmann at Keller Williams for $375,000.
