Ventnor was christened at the end of the 19th century after the secretary-treasurer of the Camden and Atlantic Land Co.'s wife returned from a trip to the Isle of Wight at a coastal town by the same name. Today, the community known for abutting Atlantic City and Margate features a diverse real estate market. While median listing prices in the community are under $300,000, these properties are well north of $1 million each.

Tell me all about it: What we love most about this four-bedroom beachfront home is its 1970s style, while the kitchen and bedrooms are all modern conveniences. The floor plan spreads out entertainment spaces and results in walls of windows overlooking the Atlantic. The sun deck out back is a stunner, too.

Monthly taxes: $6,021
Tell me all about it: Not only is this home situated adjacent to the boardwalk, but it boasts three decks and ocean views. The back deck features an in-ground pool with a kitchenette just inside. Bonus: There's a dumb waiter! Don't pretend you haven't always wanted one of those.

Monthly taxes: $6,531
Tell me all about it: This home is gargantuan in scale, with 5,500 square feet of living space, six bedrooms, seven full bathrooms and six decks.  Plus, it has darling bunks in a guest room.
