Cardwell Hughes stepping down as regional Red Cross CEO

The former Philadelphia Common Pleas Court judge said that Oct. 19 would be her last day on the job.

Renée Cardwell Hughes is stepping down as CEO of the American Red Cross Eastern Pennsylvania Region after six years with the organization.

The former Philadelphia Common Pleas Court judge said Oct. 19 will be her last day on the job.

No successor has been named.

"After more than six years, I have decided to leave the American Red Cross," she said in a statement posted on social media Sunday. "There is no good time to make this decision. This time feels right because, the Red Cross of Eastern PA has a strong team to carry on this amazing work."
