Tribu Baharu at Nuevofest. This Colombian band was an unexpected delight at this year's SXSW festival in Austin, Texas. They're experts in a genre known as champeta that leans heavily on African influences, most notably the mellifluous Congolese dance music known as soukous. They make their Philadelphia debut at the eight-band free party known as Nuevofest. Sunday at FringeArts.

Devon Gilfillian. Promising young soul man and guitarist from Morton, Delaware County, who now lives in Nashville, but effectively works an understated Memphis soul groove on his 2016 self-titled EP. Wednesday at World Cafe Live.

Ghost. Swedish metal band loved by Dave Grohl that has shrewdly followed the KISS route of concealing their true identities behind cartoony costumes. In this case, the instrumentalists are known as "nameless ghouls" and the allegedly Satan-worshiping "anti-pope" singer known as Papa Emeritus. Amusing, up to a point. Thursday at the Fillmore.

Sonny Landreth. Louisiana guitar hero who's one of the great slide players on Earth and an underrated songwriter and singer, kicking off an East Coast tour in support of his new Recorded Live in Lafayette album. Thursday at World Cafe Live.

Dawn Richard. She's the former singer with Danity Kane, the girl group that was constructed by Sean "Diddy" Combs on the third season of the MTV series Making the Band. Since the group split in 2011, the New Orleans native has gone on to impressively remake herself as DAWN, a futuristic electro-dance-R&B act with sci-fi ideas and a thing for triangular symbolism. Her latest is last year's acclaimed Redemption. Friday at Coda.
