The XPoNential Music Festival kicks off on Friday at Wiggins Park and the BB&T Pavilion in Camden, come rain or come shine. Read my preview of the three day fest here.
It seems like it's rain that's going to come though, and the severity of the forecast monsoon has spurred some alteration to the festival schedule on Friday.
In hopes of beating the rain to the punch, the Wiggins Park gates will open earlier than scheduled on Friday, at 2 p.m. Performances on the arena stage will begin at 2:45.
And two acts, Angel Olsen and Offa Rex – the latter a collaboration between the Decemberists and British folk singer Olivia Chaney – that were scheduled to play outside at Wiggins in the late afternoon and early evening will instead move indoors to the BB&T Pavilion.
The schedule in the indoor room now looks like this:
5:00 PM Angel Olsen
6:15 PM Offa Rex (The Decemberists with Olivia Chaney)
7:45 PM Hop Along
8:45 PM Conor Oberst
10:15 PM Wilco
Here's the tricky part. All Wiggins attendees are welcome to come inside and sit in general admission fashion for Olsen and Off Rex. After they're done, however, the seated area will be cleared to make room for reserved seat holders. Those without will be allowed to stay in the venue, but will have to go out on the lawn where presumably, it will be raining.
More info and a complete schedule here.
The afternoon schedule hasn't been finalized since the reshuffling, but it seems some bands will be displaced. Excellent Philly power-pop band Hurry for one, according to this Thursday night tweet:
UPDATE: New set times for the Marina stage have been announced, and Hurry and Swift Technique will not be performing because of the truncated schedule.
