New theater: "Surviving Twin," "Rock of Ages," and more

Surviving Twin (People's Light). Superb singer-songwriter Loudon Wainwright III sings of himself and his father in what he calls a "collaboration" between the two. Saturday through Feb. 5.

Marcus/Emma (InterAct Theatre Company). Mary Tuomanen's play mashes up the stories of Marcus Garvey and Emma Goldman to interrogate issues of sexual and racial polarization, and much more. Friday through Feb. 12.

Rock of Ages (Eagle Theatre, Hammonton, N.J.). Learning to play - and to be - loud and great. Friday through Feb. 19.

Romeo and Juliet (Media Theatre). Teenagers play the star-crossed leads, accurately enough, in Media's first foray into Shakespeare. Saturday through Feb. 19.

Bedlam: Hamlet/St. Joan (McCarter Theatre, Princeton). Four actors in stripped-down versions of Shakespeare's Hamlet and Shaw's St. Joan in rotating repertory. Through Feb. 12.

Constellations (Wilma Theater). A man and woman meet, and their lives branch off throughout the multiverse. Through Feb. 5.

The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy Part 2 (Hedgerow Theatre). Douglas Adams' radio play version of his celebrated wacky-spec novel continues. Through Jan. 29.

Informed Consent (St. Stephen's Theater/Lantern Theater Company). A geneticist is on a quest to solve a mystery that could save an indigenous tribe in Arizona - and her own family. Through Feb. 12.

John (Arden Theatre). Pulitzer-winner Annie Baker's new play, set in Gettysburg. Through Feb. 26.

La Cage aux Folles (Broadway Theatre of Pitman). The enduring, and enduringly hilarious, musical. Through Feb 5.

Last of the Red Hot Lovers (Walnut Street Theatre). An updated version of Neil Simon's celebrated comedy. Through Feb. 5.

Lizzie (11th Hour Theater). Four actresses perform this rock setting of the life of ax-wielder Lizzie Borden. Through Feb. 29.

Menopause the Musical (Bucks County Playhouse). A comedy review sung to tunes from the last three decades of the 20th century. Ends next Sunday.

The Road: My Life with John Denver (People's Light). A road show of Denver's greatest hits. Best for big Denver fans. Ends Sunday. - N.C.

Sleeping Beauty: A Musical Panto (People's Light). Keeps the great tradition of British panto alive, with song, action, and laughs. A charming production, visually and aurally dazzling. Ends Sunday. - J.R.

A Year with Frog and Toad (Arden Theatre). They're back - grumpy Toad and can-do Frog in the popular family show. A marvelous, funny production for children of all ages. Through Feb. 3. - T.Z.
