5 events to get you excited about February in Philly

February gets a bad rap: It's cold and gray, and we're not allowed to officially start looking foward to spring till March. But maybe it's time to rethink that, what with all the good stuff you can do to get out of the house. Here are our picks for what you have to do to keep your February in Philly awesome.

The Strawberry Mansion-born and -raised rapper has had a tough couple of months, especially with his high-profile breakup from rap queen Nicki Minaj. Visit Meek while on he's on the rebound when he and his buds hit the Wells Fargo Center to promote his 2016 mixtape Dreamchasers 4. Minaj is a guest star on the album, but don't expect her to show up. Still, guys like Pusha T, Young Thug, and Philly's own Lil Uzi Vert could possibly get onstage to support their pal.

Get some ink or take a look at the portfolios of the artists who will be showing off some of their best stuff at this show, which brings in some top tat talent. Each day features a new contest — at 11 p.m. Friday and 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Look out for such entertainment as  Alakazam the Human Knot, Olde City Sideshow, and live human suspension.

R&B singer Deborah Cox takes over for Whitney Houston as mega-pop star Rachel Marron, who hires a studly bodyguard to protect her. The movie is perfect for adapation because who could forget that soundtrack? Certainly not the millions who rock out to classics like "Queen of the Night," "Run to You," and, of course, "I Will Always Love You."

HBO's Game of Thrones gets our hearts racing before the show even starts — think uber-catchy, pounding theme song. GoT composer Ramin Djawadi, with a full orchestra and choir, brings the musical backbone of the Seven Kingdoms (and beyond) to South Philadelphia. Just watch out for those dragons.
