The Moth StorySLAMs are open-mic storytelling competitions held across the country, and they're open to anyone with a five-minute story on the night's theme. This month, World Cafe Live hosts a StorySLAM on ambition, perfect for the new year.

English rock band the Wombats will take over Union Transfer. The band expects to release a widely anticipated album this year  featuring their latest sweeping, pop-influenced single, "Turn."

Les Misérables

Cameron MacKintosh's Broadway version of this classic musical comes to Philadelphia. Prepare yourself for a story of heartwarming romance and idealistic revolutionaries, set to one of the most timeless scores around.

Dallas rock band True Widow will  bring "stonegaze," which is how they describe their moody, heavy style, to Johnny Brenda's. Philly post-punk band Remote/Control  opens.

Book lovers can head to the Rosenbach to celebrate the 200th anniversary of Frankenstein with a cocktail specially crafted for this event by Quaker City Mercantile. There will also be light refreshments and activities. 21 and over.

Hot off his recent late-night stand-up debut on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, Jaboukie Young-White makes his Philadelphia headlining debut at the Good Good Comedy Theatre. Known for his hilarious Twitter and Instagram feeds, Young-White was named one of Rolling Stone's 25 under 25 and a comic to watch at the New York Comedy Festival last year.
