7 p.m.: The Resistible Rise of Arturo Ui. Bertolt Brecht told the Hitler story in the guise of a Chicago gangster's arc in this 1933 play. DBAD Productions puts a 2017 spin on it. The Shambles, 104 Lombard St. 100 minutes. $10. Thursday at 7 p.m., Sunday at 5 p.m., and Sept. 21 at 7 p.m.
8 p.m.: Statements After an Arrest Under the Immorality Act. Blue Mercury Theatre performs eminent South African playwright Athol Fugard's drama about the racist policies of apartheid-era South Africa, brought to bear when an interracial affair is discovered.
