Practice your fist pumps — it looks like Jersey Shore is coming back.
Several cast members from MTV's Jersey Shore reality show were recently spotted with camera crews in Asbury Park and Point Pleasant Beach in New Jersey filming for a reunion show last month, according to the Asbury Park Press.
Cast members including Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi, Jenni "JWoww" Farley, Sammi "Sweetheart" Gibson, and Deena Nicole Cortese reportedly played boardwalk games and had dinner at Jenkinson's Pavilion Restaurant in Point Pleasant Beach following a shoot on June 16. Toby Wolf, director of marketing at Jenkinson's Boardwalk, described the evening as "low-key."
As the APP reports, the channel and format of the upcoming show are currently unknown, with an MTV spokesperson saying that the network is not a part of the project. The current show, Asbury Park officials said, is being headed up by Bright Road Productions, which applied for a permit to film the project in the Asbury Park area under the name Roadtrip Reunion. The production company for the original MTV series, which aired from 2009 to 2012, was 495 Productions.
"Oh well, they've been reading the paper and they know Asbury Park is the place to be," Asbury Park Mayor John Moor told the APP. "No, we did not know they were coming as they applied under Roadtrip Reunion. They paid their fees and everything worked out fine."
The show, however, was denied permission to film at the Langosta Lounge in Asbury Park. As the restaurant's entertainment director, Peter Mantas, told the APP, the restaurant denied "those meatheads" permission to film because "they called 10 days before they wanted to film."
"We said no freaking way," Mantas said. "Bring those meatheads to the Langosta Lounge? No way."
Seaside Heights, where the original Jersey Shore was filmed, similarly rejected the new Jersey Shore project, borough administrator Christopher Vaz said.
Still, though, it appears that some type of reunion is on, judging by social media posts from several original cast members:
"Yes!," Polizzi said of joining a Jersey Shore reunion last month in an interview with E! News. "But not for a long time because I have kids. Like, for a week."
