Meteorologist Brittney Shipp is heading back to NBC10

Former NBC10 meteorologist Brittney Shipp will soon return to the station after two years away, WCAU announced today.

Shipp will join fellow meteorologist Bill Henley on weekday morning broadcasts beginning Jan. 8, 2018, NBC10 said in a statement Thursday. The station will also add journalist Miguel Martinez-Valle as a general assignment reporter beginning Dec. 18.

The meteorologist returns to NBC10 after a two-year stint at the San Francisco Bay Area's KRON-TV, where she worked as chief meteorologist. Prior to that gig, Shipp worked at NBC10 as a meteorologist from 2013 to 2016 as a weekend evening meteorologist. She also worked as a fill-in weather woman for NBC's Early Today, as well as MSNBC's Morning Joe, First Look, and Way Too Early.

A Los Angeles native, Shipp graduated UCLA, where she majored in International Development Studies. She later attended Mississippi State University, where she earned a certificate of broadcast meteorology.

Before working at NBC10, Shipp held meteorology and reporting positions at KTVK-3TV and KYMA-TV in Arizona. She released a children's book, The Meteorologist in Me, in August last year.

Martinez-Valle, meanwhile, arrives at NBC10 via Las Vegas' KVVU-TV, where he worked as a reporter and anchor. A native of Guaymas, Sonora, Mexico, the reporter graduated with a degree in journalism from Michigan State University, and previously worked as a reporter at Univision Las Vegas and HOM-TV, a Michigan-based government access television station.

Anzio Williams, vice president of news for NBC10 and Telemundo62, said that the addition of Shipp and Martinez-Valle "underscores our station's commitment to investing in our team's growth" to better serve viewers.
