The Simpsons creator Matt Groening has a new animated comedy coming to Netflix, and Wayne native Abbi Jacobson will head up the series cast of voice talent.

Netflix has ordered 20 episodes of the series, called Disenchantment, and plans to debut a 10-episode first season sometime in 2018, according to a release. An animated fantasy-comedy, the series is set in the declining magical kingdom of Dreamland, and follows a young princess named Bean and her companions Elfo (an elf) and Luci (a demon).

Jacobson, known for her work on Broad City, will voice protagonist Bean, while comedian Eric Andre will play Luci and actor Nat Faxon (The Way Way Back) take the role of Elfo. Additionally, the show includes voice work from stars including John DiMaggio (Jake the Dog from Adventure Time and Bender from Futurama), Billy West (Philip J. Fry, Dr. Zoidberg, and Zapp Branigan from Futurama), and Maurice LaMarche (The Brain from Animaniacs).

"Ultimately," creator Groening says of the show via a release, "Disenchantment will be about life and death, love and sex, and how to keep laughing in a world full of suffering and idiots, despite what the elders and wizards and other jerks tell you."

With its premiere next year, Disenchantment will serve as another original animated series from Netflix alongside hits like Bill Burr's F Is for Family and Bojack Horseman. Groening's The Simpsons, meanwhile, is moving into its 29th season on Fox, and has been renewed up through its 30th season.

Jacobson will next appear in the fourth season of Broad City, which premieres on Comedy Central Wednesday, Aug. 23 at 10:30 p.m. Last month, co-star Ilana Glazer called the new season of the show "as dark as the world is today."
