Meek Mill's Thanksgiving turkey giveaway still on in Philly; Kaepernick says the rapper is in good spirits

Meek's team will still give away turkeys, even if the rapper isn't in attendance.

Despite look at two to four years behind bars for probation violations, Meek Mill isn't letting imprisonment diminish his Thanksgiving spirit.

The Philadelphia emcee's team this year will again pass out free turkeys to local families as part of Mill's annual "A DreamChaser's Thanksgiving" initiative. Scheduled to take place today starting at 11 a.m., the giveaways will have Mill's team handing out birds at four different spots throughout the city.

Mill's camp recently announced the giveaways via social media, posting messages to Instagram and Twitter on the imprisoned rapper's behalf. The times and locations are as follows:

11 a.m. – Unity in the Community (Point Breeze Ave. and Dickinson St.)
12 p.m. – Bible Way Baptist Church (1323 N. 52nd St.)
1:30 p.m. – Martin Luther King Recreation Center (2101 Cecil B. Moore Ave.)
2:45 p.m. – Strawberry Mansion Learning Center (Dauphin St. and N. 30th St.)

According to TMZ, Mill's team will give away a total of 1,000 turkeys throughout the day.

The rapper himself is currently in prison on probation violations stemming from 2008 gun and drug charges. The rapper last week filed an appeal for his two to four-year prison sentence, and asked that Philadelphia Common Pleas Court Judge Genece E. Brinkley disqualify herself from his case.

While in prison, Mill has also spoken with free-agent quarterback Colin Kaepernick, who said that the rapper is "in good spirits" and "humbled by the support the people have shown him."
