TV picks: 'This Is Us' (twice), 'Puppy Bowl XIV,' 'Animals With Cameras,' and more

Beyond the Super Bowl, we can look forward to puppies, cheetahs, and plenty of tears in the coming week of TV.

Super Bowl Gospel Celebration.  For the fifth year in a row, BET mixes the NFL and gospel for what it's billing as "an evening of uplifting music and inspirational messages to kick off Super Bowl 52." Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson and Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald will be there, and so will Snoop Dogg, Faith Evans,  Tye Tribbett, Erica Campbell, Sheila E., Donnie McClurkin, and Sounds of Blackness. 11 p.m. Saturday, BET.

Puppy Bowl XIV. The bowl game where every player is expected to go home a winner — because the entire rosters of Team Ruff and Team Fluff are adoptable — is basically two hours of  puppies bumping into one another and looking adorable. If that's not enough (and how can that not be enough?), this year there's a new "stadium," shaped like a bone. 3 p.m. Sunday, Animal Planet.

This Is Us.  Stock up on the tissues. We're getting a double dose of the Pearson clan, starting with the post-Super Bowl episode that's apparently meant to guarantee a nationwide shortage. After we find out, once and for all, what happened to Jack (Milo Ventimiglia), we'll return to our regularly scheduled Pearson family drama two days later. 10:15 (ish) p.m. Sunday, 9 p.m. Tuesday, NBC.

Animals with Cameras, a Nature Miniseries. No, they weren't issued selfie sticks. In the second installment of the three-week series, a trio of orphaned cheetahs raised by a human in Namibia are fitted with head cameras in an attempt to find out whether they're ready to fend for themselves. Other "photographers" include fur seals of Australia's Kanowna Island and baboons in South Africa at odds with a farmer who's eager to find a solution to their raiding of his crops. 8 p.m. Wednesday, WHYY12.

Big Brother: Celebrity Edition. The bad news: CBS has Omarosa Manigault locked in a house with other sort-of celebrities — including former Cosby Show kid Keshia Knight Pulliam and Sugar Ray's Mark McGrath. The good news? It's not the White House. 8 p.m. Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, CBS.

Eddie Griffin: Undeniable. The comedian celebrates his 30th anniversary in comedy in this special, filmed at the Berklee Performing Arts Center in Boston, that includes tributes to (and impersonations of) the late comedians Charlie Murphy, Bernie Mac, Dick Gregory, and Richard Pryor. 10 p.m. Feb. 9, Showtime.
