Kacie's Cause — the awareness-raising nonprofit named after Kacie Rumford, who died of a heroin overdose at the age of 23 —will hold a two-mile Mother's Day Walk on Sunday morning in Chester County.

Andrew Rumford of Kennett Square turned his grief over his daughter's death four year years ago into an organization that now has multiple chapters and activities, from support groups for parents to free training in use of the emergency opioid-reversal medication naloxone; there is even a Kacie's Cause for Kids in the works for children 15 and under.

Sunday's family walk for heroin awareness is free (and includes lunch). It begins at 9 a.m. rain or shine at The Parkesburg Point, 700 Main St., Parkesburg. Last year's event drew more than 500 people.
