Folks who rely on a walking cane know the frustration of trying to retrieve dropped keys or other objects while standing.
Leaning down to pick up anything with your free hand puts you at risk of toppling over. Collapsible reaching aids are great, but they're safe to use only if you are sitting down or able to grab onto support other than your cane. And what if you don't have one handy when you're on the go?
A standing ovation please, for the 2-in-1 Snapper Cane.
The sturdy lightweight aluminum cane has retractable rubber-tipped stainless-steel tongs concealed within the base behind the rubberized cane tip. Push a button at the top of the handle, and the tongs emerge, ready for grab-duty. The push-button also enables a hand-squeeze mechanism just below the handle that lets you control retrieval, release, and then complete retraction of the tongs — which snap securely back into place behind the cane tip. Meanwhile, your other hand is free to grab onto steadying support.
But wait, there's more. A removable rotatable plastic hook near the top of the cane can hold a bag or keys, or anything up to 17 pounds — provided you can lift the cane with the extra weight.
Rotate the hook 180 degrees to hang the cane alongside you when it's off duty. The Snapper Cane is available in two lengths — 36 inches and 33 inches (for users less than 5-foot-4).
