A 24-year-old man who was fatally struck by a SEPTA Regional Rail Line train in Olney over the weekend was identified Monday as Javier Lugo by his family and the city's Medical Examiner's Office.
The victim was walking along the surface train tracks shortly after 7 p.m. Saturday when he was struck by a southbound Fox Chase Line train heading from the Lawndale Station to the Olney Station, a SEPTA spokesman has said. A 30-year-old man who was with him was not injured, and no foul play was suspected, the spokesman said.
Philadelphia Police on Monday said the victim had been struck near Hammond and Nedro Avenues in Olney. His death was listed by the ME's Office as accidental and a result of blunt-impact injuries. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 215-685-3180.
