Eagles pray in hot tubs, closets and on vibration plates, players tell Bible Study mag

With the Eagles' 7-1 record, many fans believe their Super Bowl prayers will finally be answered.

But for a group of Eagles players, prayer runs much deeper than a request to the Big Referee in the Sky for a Super Bowl win.

In this month's cover story of Bible Study magazine, Eagles players Carson Wentz, Nick Foles, Trey Burton, Chris Maragos, Jordan Matthews (who was traded to Buffalo in August), Jordan Hicks, and Zach Ertz talk about their team's Bible study group and their devotion to their faith.

"We love the word," Burton told the magazine. "We could talk about it all day long."

While the Bible study group meets regularly during offseason training, that becomes more difficult as training camp and the season kick off, so the players have found unusual ways to make time for prayer, according to the article.

Wentz, who has openly talked about his devotion to Jesus, often listens to Christian podcasts. Maragos reads the Bible while he's in the hot tub or listens to a Christian podcast "during a stretching routine."

Foles, on the other hand, "hops on a vibration plate," which emits 30 pulses per second, and does his morning devotions there. Talk about being moved by the Holy Spirit.

Finally, Burton — who has three kids under the age of 5 — confessed to the magazine that sometimes he prays in the closet "just to get away — just to allow the Spirit to speak and reveal himself."
