A 25-year-old man was killed early Saturday after he apparently lost control of his motorcycle while riding in the Parkside section of West Philadelphia.

Police said the man was riding a 1996 Suzuki westbound on Girard Ave. about 12:20 a.m. near 38th St. when the motorcycle suddenly dropped and slid while approaching the entrance ramp to Interstate 76.  The man's body struck the passenger side bumper of a 2014 GMC automobile.  The model of the GMC was not released.

The motorcycle did not strike the automobile but continued sliding until it came to a stop at the ramp.

The rider was taken to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center where he was pronounced dead at 12:58 a.m.  His identity was not immediately available.

No injuries were reported to the driver of the other vehicle.
