Police on Sunday were searching for a suspect in the weekend shooting death of a 21-year-old man in Paulsboro.

Responding to a call about a shooting, police found Davontae Randall at 6:45 p.m. Saturday at 205 W. Buck St. He was pronounced dead at a local hospital, and an autopsy determined that he died of multiple gunshot wounds, according to a statement from the Gloucester County Prosecutor's Office.

Eyewitnesses told police that a suspect had fled on foot, the statement said.  No other information was provided about the suspect beyond that Randall knew the person and that the two had been in a fight.

"We do not believe it was a random act.  We do not believe there is any imminent danger to the community. We are aggressively investigating this homicide and we are doing everything possible to bring justice to the individual who carried out this act of senseless violence," Gloucester County Prosecutor Charles A. Fiore said.

Participating in the search for the suspect are the Gloucester County S.W.A.T. Team, the Gloucester County Emergency Response Team, and neighboring police.

Authorities ask that witnesses call Detective Michael Bielski of the Gloucester County Prosecutor's Office at 856-649-9716 or Detective Michael Minniti of the Paulsboro Police Department at 609-352-3919, or email @co.gloucester.nj.us
