An alleged drag-racing accident in Monroe Township, Gloucester County, claimed a second life over the weekend.

Joshua A. Martinelli, 26, from Pemberton, N.J., died Saturday due to complications from injuries sustained in the Tuesday crash, police said.

Martinelli was a passenger in a 2013 Subaru Impreza driven by Elliott Festa Jr., 26, of Hammonton, on the Black Horse Pike, at 9:59 p.m. Tuesday when it collided with a Nissan Murano. Police said Festa was possibly driving as fast as 100 mph.

Matthew H. Anderson, 33, also of Pemberton, was the driver of the Nissan and was not involved in any racing, police said. He was turning left to cross the highway when his car was struck by Festa's vehicle, police said. Anderson died that night.

Festa was hospitalized with leg injuries. Police said charges are pending completion of an investigation.

Monroe Officer Matthew Shipley declined to comment beyond a police press release, which said Martinelli was not wearing a seat belt when the collision occurred.
