30 groups to be at Gloucester County wellness fair

GLASSBORO Thirty organizations offering mental health and addiction services will be on hand May 19 at the Gloucester County Wellness and Recovery Resource Fair.

The free event is open to the public, caregivers, and people seeking mental health and addiction treatment services. There will be giveaways, door prizes, and light refreshments.

The fair is being sponsored by the Gloucester County Prosecutor's Office, the county Mental Health Committee, the Municipal Alliance, the Governor's Council on Alcohol and Drug Abuse, and the New Jersey County Jail Wardens' Association.

"We want to ensure residents are aware of the many valuable local resources that they can access to help deal with these critical problems facing our families and communities," said County Prosecutor Sean F. Dalton.

Former Gov. Jim McGreevey, who now counsels ex-offenders and addicts, will be a speaker, as will Maura Schwartz, whose mother, Mary Sherlach, was a school psychologist killed at the Sandy Hook elementary school tragedy in Connecticut.

Schwartz, a teacher and county resident, and her family have started Mary's Fund, which supports mental-health advocacy and education.

The fair will be from 6 to 9 p.m. in the Student Center Ballroom of Rowan University on Route 322 in Glassboro.
