Officials ID woman killed in Haddon Township hit-run, find truck

Authorities have identified the woman killed in a hit-and-run crash in Haddown Township and say they found the vehicle that struck her.

The Camden County Prosecutor's Office said today that 67-year-old Joyce Putmon, of Blackwood, was hit by a pickup truck when she was crossing Black Horse Pike near Washington Avenue shortly before 7 p.m. Sunday.

She was taken to Cooper University Hospital, where she was pronounced dead at 7:24 p.m.

The striking vehicle was located in Gloucester City this morning, the prosecutor's office said. Officials said the driver had also been identified.

Further details about the driver weren't immediately available.

State pension records indicate that Putmon retired from the Camden County Board of Social Services in August 2010.

Officials had described the striking vehicle as white pickup truck with a gray back and with a homemade structure -- potentially a produce box -- in the flatbed area. The truck may have been a Chevrolet or GMC, and was missing a headlamp lens and amber turn signal lens.

The vehicle made a right turn onto Main Street after hitting the woman, the prosecutor's office said.
